This Wednesday, the minister of development (Fomento) announced that Aena will invest over 120 million Euros in building a new terminal for Tenerife South airport. She has pointed out that this investment will be considered in the Document for Airport Regulation (DORA). This is to be approved by Aena’s board at the beginning of January. Starting the 25th of October the company will fly to Gran Canaria and Tenerife Norte from Madrid. On the 26th of October they will begin flights to Gran Canaria and Tenerife Norte from Barcelona and the next day begin flights to Fuerteventura. According to information published on the rtve website, there will soon be new strikes in Spain. Groundforce, the subsidiary handling company of Globalia, will begin indefinite strikes starting on July 4th. The strike will affect the following seven Spanish airports: Barcelona-El Prat, Bilbao, Madrid-Barajas, Gran Canaria, Seville, Tenerife Norte and Tenerife Sur. Casa Africa is a Spanish public organization aimed at promoting relationships between Africa, Europe and Spain. Profitable airports dropped to eight in 2012 Airports

Despite the efforts to reduce costs and increase revenues, in 2012 the number of profitable airports dropped from eleven to eight.Thus, the only profitable airports where Bilbao, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Valencia, Tenerife South, Seville, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca. The latter two made a 73 million Euro profit each.Alicante, Valencia and Fuerteventura entered into losses in 2012, to join a list where Madrid, Málaga, Santiago de Compostela and La Palma are emphasised.Aena, chaired by José Manuel Vargas, expect an EBITDA of 1,600 million Euros at the end of this year.
