This Wednesday, the minister of development (Fomento) announced that Aena will invest over 120 million Euros in building a new terminal for Tenerife South airport. She has pointed out that this investment will be considered in the Document for Airport Regulation (DORA). This is to be approved by Aena’s board at the beginning of January. Yesterday we informed that an Aena airport charges decrease had been confirmed through the State Budget Project. However, it looks like it is not so easy and that confirmation might not be a fact. Aena Aeropuertos has initiated the consultation process with Airline Associations on the amendments of airport charges for year 2015.The Aena’s proposal maintains the agreements reached with the airlines in 2013 to smooth the cost recovery process, which was set by Royal Decree 11/2013, and fixes the maximum increases until year 2018 as following: In 2015 the increase will be of CPI+3%. Fomento fixes the increases of Airport charges for the next five years Charges,Regulations

On 3rd August it has been published in the BOE a modification of Law 21/2003 by which is ratified the agreement reached between AENA and the airlines association to control the increase in airport charges in the coming years.According to this, the maximum increases allowed for the next five years are 2.5% in 2014, 4.5% in 2015 and 5.5% in 2016, 2017 and 2018.From 2019 onwards, AENA reserves the right to recover the deficit incurred by increasing the airport charges.
